About Us

Lotions and Potions. They were our "feel better" balms on days things didn't go as planned or little rewards in times of celebration. What? You mean you didn't do the same?  What better way to perk up a dreary mood or pat yourself on the back than that extra expensive night serum? It would have been idyllic if not for the fact that they created problems that didn't exist in the first place. Breakouts, rashes, itching, swelling... Who would have thought that taking a peek at the ingredients might have answered a whole lot of questions?

As time went by, our trust in the brand-name cosmetics marketing machine began to wane, and we became attuned to the fact that looking at labels should be the first course of action when making a decision on what to put on our skin.

Have you done that lately? We dare you. Unless you have already adopted a natural approach to skin care, you'll be amazed at what you see. Long lists of ingredients that read more like a chemistry text than a rundown of wholesome, nutritious ingredients whose names you can actually pronounce. Petroleum-based, artificially coloured and fragranced, laced with parabens, stabilizers, surfactants, foaming agents and plastics, they are meant to scrub you raw and dry you out so that you'll need to apply a similarly made lotion to combat the damage the cleanser caused in the first place. All that at the risk of exposure to many questionable and very likely harmful substances.

Whether it's curiosity, concern for your family's continued health and well-being or a medical necessity that brought you to be more aware of what you put in and on your body,  we're glad you've arrived.

It was all of those circumstances that brought us to the place where we made the decision to read labels and slowly create our own natural soaps, scrubs, body butters, lip and first-aid balms. Are they effective? You bet! Is our skin happier? Much. Are the products as luxurious? Much more so.

How?

What you will never find in our products: Artificial colours, Artificial fragrances, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth  Sulphate (foaming agents),  Propylene Glycol (thickener), Tetrasodium Etidronate (chelating agent), Parabens (preservatives), Triclosan (antibacterial agent), Micro Beads, Petroleum byproducts.

What you will find in our products: Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Palm Oil (Responsibly Sourced), Avocado Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Camellia Seed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Hazelnut Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Mango Butter, Kokum Butter, Coconut Milk, Goats' Milk, Honey, Clays, Activated Charcoal, Dehydrated Flowers, Oats, Almonds, Walnuts, Wheat Grass, Himalayan Pink Salt, Sea Salt, Seaweed, Coffee, Tea, Aloe, Essential Oils, Sodium Hydroxide. (There is no Sodium Hydroxide, lye, left in the final bar of soap. Sodium Hydroxide saponifies oils and turns them into soap. We purposefully leave extra un-saponified oils in our soaps to ensure an ultra-conditioning bar.)

That's how!

However beneficial and effective the above ingredients are, we realize that when taking care of our bodies we're also caring for our soul. When formulating our recipes whether for soap or a body butter, we keep in mind that delighting the senses goes a long way to satisfying our need for fun, decadence and a little luxury. Virgin Coconut Oil infused with vanilla beans? Yes, ma'am. Australian Pink Clay paired with Himalayan Pink Salt? Why not? Real shredded coconut in our Coconut & Lime Body Scrub? Of course! Hawaiian Black Salt in our Seaweed Soap? Thought you'd never ask!

So what's keeping you? Come on over from the dark side. We promise you, you'll never look back!

"I am *very* sensitive to perfumes, but I find I can enjoy the clean scents (and lack of itchy residue) of these products. And I know they are made with care!" Congratulations, Sud Therapy!"
